🎉🥳HOORAAAAAY!! It’s back to school week!
👉🏾BUT! Should the government pay schools to extend the school day by 30 minutes?
🧠In May, a study by the Education Endowment Foundation found 96% of schools said Reception children were behind in language following the lockdowns.
👩🏼🏫Mrs Spielman, the chief inspector of schools, insists there is a pressing need for schools to get back to normal.
🗣She says: ‘Without extra-curricular activities such as:
🎳 Team building activities
🚌 School Trips
children have lost out on learning the soft skills such as listening to others, speaking well, and problem solving.’
👉🏾She also mentioned the ‘possibility of a longer school day’ would allow time for these skills to be developed.
Ofsted said yesterday schools are not expected to spend vast amounts on extra-curricular activities, which can be simple and draw on the talents of staff or people in the community.
❓What is your take on this? Would your child be benefit from extra curricular activities?
