Keeping Kids Safe at Halloween

Writer: Katie WeaverKatie Weaver

Halloween is quickly approaching and at Sports for Kids we think it is so important that the children enjoy themselves whilst still having fun. So we have put together a blog all about how to keep the children safe this Halloween.

We know that a tradition on Halloween night is to go trick or treating, and so we have put together a list of things to make sure you stay safe:

  • Make sure a parental guardian or responsible adult is present to supervise.

  • Plan the route, and make sure to stay local and only go to houses that have a pumpkin lit outside.

  • Make sure to carry a torch as the street lights are dim and allows you to have a safer journey.

  • Make sure to check all of the children's sweets to ensure none of the wrappers are open or there are things that they cannot eat.

  • Although Halloween is about dressing up, make sure they still wrap up warm as it is getting colder in the evenings.

  • And lastly, make sure the costume is easy to see or give the children a glow stick so you know where they are, if they happen to run off.

We know at Halloween it is very exciting to want to carve pumpkins, however a lot of the carving kits have an age range and so maybe consider doing something different.

Some other ideas are:

  • Painting Pumpkins

  • Using paper and sequins to glue onto the Pumpkin
